I'm putting too much trust in my own work. I need to work on that.

Short update on my IntelliJ IDEA package: In December I stated that I hope to provided a new package for unified IntelliJ by mid January. Obviously, this didn't happen and due to various circumstances I currently think of retiring the project. The decision is not final yet, but I will make up my mind the coming days.

I use Linkding a lot, but it's a bit frustrating that it doesn't have an Emacs interface. I already wrote a few Emacs Lisp functions about a year ago to add URLs from Emacs and now I also added some additional functions for opening a bookmark in my browser of choice or EWW (which is ideal for many personal blogs). This makes the whole process of using it much more convenient. https://git.mmk2410.org/mmk2410/dot-emacs/src/branch/main/packages/linkding.el

After some years (or at least I think so), I finally came around to update/rewrite the intro text on my website. https://mmk2410.org

There it is again: The urge to switch my task management to a mostly paper-based system. Don't know where it comes from, don't know what to do with it…

Just finished adding all my (physical) books to my self-hosted MyBibliotheca instance. The software has some quirks, but all in all, it works reasonably well.

Mozilla is currently running a survey titled "What Is Your Dream for Mozilla?". If you have any thoughts (especially after the recent months) about its future, please take the time to submit them: https://mozillafoundation.tfaforms.net/201

I've been browsing through Ye Olde Blogroll today. I found many new people to follow and I'm looking forward to reading what they'll write. Thanks to Ray & Manu for curating this awesome list!

I'm considering building a /now page and I'm currently reading some others for inspiration. Any rather unusual suggestions on what to put on it? 🙃

Quick note on my IntelliJ IDEA packages: Due to JetBrains unifying the Community and Ultimate editions into one product the automatic updating of my packages currently doesn't work and 2025.3 is not available via my PPA. I'm aware of that, but I'm currently lacking the time to adjust the packages and the building process. I hope to provide up-to-date packages by mid January at the latest.

Just upgraded to Debian 13. Went as smooth as always :)

From my photography blog

OCOLOY August Review

August was a month with not much time for my OCOLOY project. But my chosen side challenge "shoot from the hip" nevertheless made for some quite interesting photos. Have a look at my blog post:

Just published a new blog post about label and boxes for individuals: Breaking out of the box

Finally took the time to finish my new bookmarks page that I started working on a few months ago. There's still much more to add, but it's a first step.

The effort for the Kirby major version upgrade was the same as for a minor version. Classic case of putting something off because of being afraid that it will be time-consuming and in the end it's not.

28. August 2025 @ 19:09

The website is now migrated to Kirby 5! The upgrade was completely effortlessly; I only needed to adjust the composer dependencies.

Just read on of the best blog posts I came across in a long time. Ava doesn't just write about blogging, tools, and software. It's about everything, it's about life.

Recently I have this crazy idea of using Emacs (more specifically: dired) as a digital asset manager for my photography. Send help!

I'm playing around with Linux Mint a bit at the moment. Certainly a great experience!
